Families

Group parents and children so one person manages and pays for the family.

A family groups parents (guardians) with their children. Guardians manage the children’s accounts and information, get copies of every message, and pay for the whole family. Siblings share one family, so you set it up once.

The Family card

Open any member on the Roster. On the Details tab, the Family card shows their family: the guardians (with a Pays badge on the one who’s billed), the children, and whose card the family is billed to. Someone not in a family shows “Not in a family.”

The Okafor family: one guardian who pays, two children.

Start a family

There’s no separate “create family” step: linking a child to a parent creates it.

  1. Make sure everyone is on the roster

Parents and children are each a member. Add any that are missing first (Add a member).
  2. Open the child (or the parent)

Click them on the Roster and stay on the Details tab.
  3. Click + on the Family card

Choose Add parent on a child, or Add child on a parent. Pick the person under Member and click Add.

The family is named after the guardian, like “Okafor family”. Click the pencil next to the name to rename it.

Add more children or guardians

Once there’s a family, the + menu says Add child to family and Add guardian to family. The window tells you what will happen before you click Add, for example who will manage the child and who they’ll be billed to.

On a family that already exists, + adds to it.

Who pays

  • The first guardian linked to a child becomes the payer (Pays). Charges and invoices for any child in the family go to that guardian’s card and email.
  • The child’s Billing tab says their payments are managed by that parent, with a link to them.
  • Adding a second guardian doesn’t change who pays.

How charging works from there: Bill a family.

Remove someone from a family

Click the × next to their name and confirm Remove. The window spells out what changes first:

  • A child goes back to their own billing and contact details, and guardians stop getting copies of their messages.
  • Removing the paying guardian moves billing to the next guardian, or, if there’s none, back to each child.

Tips

  • Select family selects everyone in the family on the Roster, handy for charging or messaging them together.
  • When parents sign up with the join link using the family email, they’re connected to the children who share it (how matching works).
  • Parents can add a child or parent to their own account from their profile, too.
